Çay

The çay glass is a distinctive object in the Turkish tea culture. Because of its marked form, it is also called „ince belli“, referring to a slim-waisted lady. The Turkish tee will appear during the whole day, giving the people a little break for a chat.

The installation consists of approximately 120 çay glasses which are hanging from the ceiling by thin threads. Through a transparent pipe, bleach drops onto them in a very slow rhythm. As the threads tear, one by one the glasses fall and break.
